A faceplate filter/splitter of the type installed by the BT engineer for an installed ADSL service.

It replaces the lower half of the BT NTE5a or NTE5b master socket and provides two outlets on the faceplate, one is an RJ11 socket (wired "straight through", unfiltered) for the connection of ADSL modems, the other is a BT 431A socket which is filtered for the connection of telephony equipment.
A 3-way IDC connector on the rear also provides a filtered output to any extension sockets (new 6 way are also available).
This unit is ideal if you have one computer within reasonable distance of the master socket, if all the other sockets are for telephony use you don't need microfilters at each outlet.

Note: The NTE5 master socket is the type that when the lower half is un-plugged, it isolates the BT network side from the subscriber.
Any ADSL modems connected to the filtered output, either via the socket on the front or connected into hardwired extension sockets wired from the rear, will not function from these filtered outputs.
